I use an old shammy to hold large models as I walk through the layers of paints and washing. It prevents the oil from you skin ruining areas of detail while you work on the opposite side of the model. You could probably use a portion of an old t-shirt or maybe even a cloth glove. I just happen to have this thing and never wash my car so I'm putting it to work.
